La Morra, Piedmont | Italy
It was November 2019, truffle season in the Langhe. We had booked reservations at the bustling Osteria Veglio for dinner. But as tradition goes, we planned to arrive a bit early for window shopping in the village of La Morra - window shopping for wine, of course. We wandered into the historic 'Cantina Comunale di La Morra', a shop that deals in wines solely from the village of La Morra. Since this was a buying trip, we asked the Sommelier; "In your opinion, who is the most exciting young producer in La Morra?". She smiled, and b-lined to the eastern wall of the shop, and plucked a bottle of wine. "Cristian Boffa, he's doing great work. Burgundian in style, very elegant, I like his wines very much" -Geno Tomko (DW)
The young Cristian Boffa is, so far, firmly rooted in the village of La Morra, the region known for softer, aromatic Barolo. Cristian certainly lives up to that tradition, but also has a forward-thinking approach to winemaking. He makes a Barolo wine of different vineyards in La Morra as well as a single-cru Barolo from the famed site, Capalot.

Cellar
Cristian allows his Barolo to sit with the skins for 25 days in stainless steel. The wines are then moved into slavonian botti.
